Modinagar comes from the district of Ghaziabad. This is located in the middle of the Holy River Ganga. On the north of Ghaziabad is the district of Meerut and on the south of Ghaziabad is the Bulandshahar & Gautam Budh Nagar. Delhi is situated in the southwest of the district of Ghaziabad. The east side of Ghaziabad is district Jyotibha Phule Nagar.
The river Hindon flows in the city like the river dividing the city into two parts. One is east of Hindon and the other is west of Hindon. The Modinagar now has the status of a Municipal Corporation on 31 August 1994. Earlier it was the Municipal Board.
This was done by considering the 74th Constitution Amendment Act 1992. The area of the district of Ghaziabad is divided into five administrative zones. The names of the zones are Kavi Nagar Zone, Vijay Nagar Zone, Mohan Nagar Zone, and Vasundhara Zone.

Historical Importance
The Modinagar is considered as a prosperous city. The city has importance related to the historical cultures and mythological and archeological concepts. A lot of research work is done on the city and excavations have proved the historical significance of the city. The excavations were done on the Mound Of Kaseri. The Mound Of Kaseri is located on the bank of the Histon River. It is at a distance of 2 KM from the Mohan Nagar.
The proof shows that the city has been a civilization since 2500 BC. The people get salvation at Garhmukteshwar. The village Pooth is allocated at the bank of river Ganga. These places are connected with the time of Mahabharata. The Ahar area of the city was the capital of Pandava.
The city has Loni Fort and the fort has a connection with the time of Ramayana and it is connected with Lavanasura. The name of the fort was done on the name of Lavanasura. Later on, Lavanasura’s name changed to Lavana and further changed to Loni.
The east side of the city has a village named KOT. The village has a direct connection with the famous emperor SamundraGupta. The SamundraGupta has done the Aswamedha Yagya after the destruction of the fort. Also, he destroyed the KOT Kuljam. This has the great significance with the rich history of India.
It was the time of 1313 when this region became the main battlefield and it was the time of Sultan Muhammad-Bin-Tuglak. The Sultan Nasiruddin has also spent his time of childhood here in the Loni fort. The Sultan Nasiruddin was known for his simplicity and honesty.
Taimur attacked Loni Fort and the place saw human massacre by Taimur. The Loni fort became important during the time of the Mughals. The Mughal king usually comes to the Loni fort for hunting and pleasure trips. The historical events show that seven wars were held at this place.
The Kot War which happened in the 4th century was fought at Loni Fort. The war between Taimur and Indian warriors was fought at Surajpur. The war of Maratha-Mughal, the war between Bharatpur King Surajmal and Najib was fought on the banks of the Hindon River.
The war of Sir General Lake and Royal Maratha Army was fought here in 1803. The most impritanr war of Indian history was fought in 1857 with the British on Hindon river. This was the first war for the independence.
